seeks a faculty member with expertise in community, health system, or novel
technology strategies for behavioral health change and a strong desire to

Nutrition Science and Policy distinguishes itself by its breadth of scholarship

We bring together biomedical, interventional, social, behavioral, public
health, economics, and food systems scientists to conduct work that improves
the nutritional health and well-being of populations throughout the world. Our
interdisciplinary focus and integrative nature of our nutrition science and

Candidate’s Qualifications (who should apply)
The
Friedman School seeks a behavioral scientist whose goal is to improve nutrition
and public health through research and practice with a major and explicit focus
on understanding community, health system or novel technology strategies and
related behavioral and social processes. Applicants should have demonstrated
expertise in conceptualizing and conducting innovative, interdisciplinary, and
multi-method research on health-related behavior across the life span. Preference
will be given to candidates with strong methodological expertise and a clear
approach to translating individual, group, environmental, systems, or novel
technology strategies to behavior change research. Experience working with
underserved populations is desired. Teaching and mentoring on theoretical,
methodological, and substantive issues in the social and behavioral sciences in
the widening context of current nutrition challenges is expected.
Candidates are expected to have demonstrated outstanding scholarship
through publications in premier journals,
a good track record of external funding, a commitment to teaching excellence
and student mentorship, including work with a range of diverse students, and involvement
in national and international efforts toward societal impact.
This is a full-time, 12-month tenure-track open rank position
with a preference for associate or full professor. Consideration will be given
to exceptional advanced assistant professors. Salary and benefits are
competitive and will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s
experience. There are also generous recruitment
packages available. The preferred starting date is early-mid 2016. Candidates
should have earned a doctoral degree and postdoctoral training relevant to
behavioral health science. Candidate’s areas of research should complement the
Friedman School’s existing strengths in nutrition, physical activity, and
